Gertrude E. Jensen

December 28, 1928 — February 14, 2020

Gertrude E. Jensen, age 91 passed peacefully into eternal life on Feb. 14, 2020. Gertrude was born December 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Stanley Marhefke and Gertrude Gronowski Marhefke, one of 11 children. She married Ted Jensen on August 19, 1950 and they had six children: Carol Jensen (Neenah) Susan Smith (Dan) Oshkosh, Pamela Jensen (Oshkosh), Linda Jensen, (Hewitt, WI), Phillip Jensen (Linda), Omro, Kristine White (Keith), Muscatine, IA. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Angela Smith Cousins, Melissa Jensen, Ted Jensen, Allison White, Jesse White, Taylor White, Ana Jensen and Isabelle Jensen and five great-grandchildren: Lily, Elijah, Liam, Corbin and Navy.

Gertrude is survived by all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as two sisters: Mary A. Huebner, Oshkosh, Elenore Francis, Maryville, TN and one brother, Stan Marhefke, Jr., Oshkosh as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, in 1999 by her brothers, Cliff, Raymond, Ralph and Bernie and by her sisters Helen Bahr, Regina Knoblock and Joan Wendt.

Gert’s main focus in life was loving and caring for her family. She was a gifted seamstress, a wonderful baker and cook and a prolific gardener. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and her children. Her faith was important to her. She was a lifelong member of St.Josaphat Parish in Oshkosh &subsequently Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. When she could no longer attend church because of illness she continued to pray at home.

Gert was employed by Oshkosh B’ Gosh as a sewing machine operator, both before her marriage and then for more than 20 years before she retired.

The family would like to thank Ascension Hospice nurses and staff for their gentle care of our mother in her last days Home Instead Senior Care and the Larsen-Winchester Lions Club for enabling us to keep her at home.

Visitation for Gertrude will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament, 435 High Ave in Oshkosh on Monday, February 24 from 9 - 10:30 AM with Mass to follow and entombment at the Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
