Gordon Busse Altmann

Gordon Busse Altmann, age 91, of Oshkosh, died at Bethel Home on Friday, October 12, 2012. He was born in the town of Omro on January 7, 1921, a son of the late Alfred and Elsie Busse Altmann. Gordon was united in marriage to Elaine Winters in Oshkosh on June 17, 1944.Gordon graduated from Omro High School and attended Oshkosh Business College. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating a drainage contracting business, Altmann Trenching, for over 30 years. He was an accomplished welder and created many of his own designs to improve the efficiency of the equipment he used in the operation. Gordon was a charter member of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Land Improvement Contractors of America, Inc and was recognized as the first contractor in Wisconsin to use new innovative products and machinery in the drainage, excavating, and ditch cleaning field. During their retirement years, Gordon and Elaine enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad, making numerous trips to Hawaii, which was their favorite destination. Gordon enjoyed playing cards with friends and family over the years with cribbage being his game of choice. Survivors include his wife of over 68 years, Elaine Altmann, Oshkosh; two sons , Jeffrey (Wendy) Altmann of Oshkosh, Scott (Kathie) Altmann of Deerbrook, WI; five grandchildren, Jason (Jamie) Altmann of Lake Mills, WI; Jennifer (Lorenzo) Francisco of Palm Harbor, FL; Andrew Altmann of Boca Raton, FL; Austin Altmann of Oshkosh; Addison Altmann of Oshkosh; and two great grandchildren, Jada Altmann of Lake Mills, WI and Mason Francisco of Palm Harbor, FL . He also had three grand-dogs, Cooper, Mya, and Khufu. Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial to the American Lung Association has been established.
