Grace Rohrig

Grace Rohrig passed away October 6, 2009 at Bethel Home where she had been aresident for nearly three years. She was born May 30, 1912 to Frank and Mary Raschkein Troy, South Dakota. She married Charles Rohrig in January of 1946. They weremarried for fifty years until his death in 1996. She and Charlie raised their family inWatertown and Yankton South Dakota where Grace took great pride in her role ashomemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also proud ofher life-time membership in the Catholic Daughters. As Charlies health failed, theywere moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin near their daughter Jan. After her husbands death,Grace continued to be very active and independent until she retired (as she put it) toBethel Home in January of 2007.Grace is survived by her three children: Judy (Mark) Schimmel of Cottage Grove,MN, Jan (Tim) Wenzel of Oshkosh, WI and Jerry (Kathy) Rohrig of Fargo, ND. She isalso survived by seven grandchildren: Brian Ackerman, Carol (Justin) Kehner, Scott(Gretchen) Ackerman, Michael (Aleesha) Ackerman, Kacie (Bryce) Klym, Ashley (Nate) Ryttie, and Matt Rohrig as well as four great grandchildren: Hannah Ackerman, Jacob Ackerman, Ben Kehner and Owen Ryttie. She also has three nieces and one nephew in South Dakota, one of which, Linda Wiekamp faithfully kept her abreast of all family news.She will also be sadly missed by those who lovingly adopted Grace as part of theirlives during her time in Oshkosh. Her Wisconsin family consists of: Shirley Raymond;Rachel and Michael Palomaki and their three children, Alaina, Isaac, and Brandon; Tanya and Frane Skoda and their daughter Nina; and Jackie and Matt Gaulke and their son James.Grace was a great lady and we all feel fortunate to have loved and been loved by her.She was laid to rest beside Charlie at Sacred Heart Cemetery after a family service atBethel Homes Chapel on Oct 10, 2009.The entire family wishes to thank the staff of Bethel Home and Affinity Hospice for their care and kindness.
