Grace Rosetta Atwood

Grace R. Bender Atwood, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. She was born on July 17, 1917 in Randolph, WI the daughter of Edward and Sophia Bonas Bender. Grace married James G. Atwood on August 20, 1966 in Oshkosh. James preceded her in death on February 23, 2005.She was blessed to live all of those years in her own home with the loving care of family and friends. Her passion was sewing, cooking, playing cards, and giving gifts of many of her beautiful embroidery work. Grace was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for over fifty years. She worked at Heiss Bakery Co. and retired from Hoffmaster Paper Co. after 23 years of service. Grace is survived by life time caring nieces and nephews, Greg Bender, Marsha Bender Arps, and Dan (Jo Anne) Montag. Grace is preceded in death by her husband, James; brothers, Charles, George, and Roger Bender; sisters, Alice Fell, Aleada Messerschmidt, and Irma Sphatt. Special thanks to all the neighbors and friends who lovingly helped Grace in her last years, especially Kathy Howard and her dogs, Katie and Lexie, and Jayne and Ron Davis. Greg you were her special guardian angel for years, God bless you. Thank you also to Affinity Hospice, Hartland Hospice and West Brook Manor Staff for the tender care you all provided to Grace and the family in her last days.The funeral service will be on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the Faith Lutheran Church (1747 Ohio St.) with Rev. Don Forss officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Monday from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
