Harold Richard Barter

Harold R. Barter, age 78 of Oshkosh, died at Aurora Medical Center on Friday, September 17, 2010. He was born in Milwaukee on November 24, 1931 a son of the late Leon and Amy Buck Barter. Harold married Carol Felker in Oshkosh on December 15, 1951. Carol preceded him in death on August 22, 2010.Harold served in the U.S. Navy and worked for the Oshkosh Fire Department from 1968 to 1994, retiring as a Lieutenant after serving 26 years. He also was a Real Estate Broker and owned Harold Barter Appraisals. Harold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a former member of the YMCA where he enjoyed playing racquetball. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing baseball and softball and playing cribbage with his friends.Survivors include his son, David Barter, Oshkosh; daughter, Aimee (Jerry) Hannan, Winneconne; five grandchildren, Jason (Michelle Nourse) Bathke, Oshkosh; Christopher (Cindy) Barter, Omro; Jeff (Rebecca Erickson) Bathke, Seattle, WA; Sara Cartwright, Oshkosh; and Michael (Erica Larsen) Cartwright, Big Sky, MT; one great grandson, Derek Bathke, Oshkosh; one brother, Larry (Kathy) Barter, Minocqua; two sisters, Amy Wiley, Neenah; Leah Hallstead, Sussex; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Elliott, Oshkosh; Eleanor Barter, Brookfield and Mary Ann Barter, Pewaukee; and one brother-in-law, Mark (Jean) Felker, Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, a daughter, Christie Bathke; three brothers and two sisters.Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Wednesday September 22, 2010 at 6:00 PM with Chaplain Vickie Marxen officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to the time of service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. A memorial is being established. Special thanks to the staff of Evergreen Retirement Community and Aurora Medical Center I.C.U, for their care and compassion given to our father.
