Harold W. Niebauer Jr.

September 23, 1938 — August 29, 2022

Harold W. Niebauer Jr. age 83 of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 23, 1938 to the late Harold and Elsie (Mueller) Niebauer Sr. Harold married LaDean Tesch, and their marriage was blessed with four children. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Early in life, Harold worked at Morgan Door Co., he later worked for the Oshkosh Area School District as a custodian. He retired as the Head Custodian of Oshkosh West High School, after serving 30 years in the public schools.

Some of Harold’s most fond memories were from his days playing polka music. He played the tenor banjo, and guitar in multiple polka bands including, “The Vegabonds” with Noel Rasmussen, and “Art Smith and the Regents” with Ron Smith. In addition to being musically inclined, Harold was also a talented carpenter, and outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant, and duck, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids.

Harold is lovingly survived by his wife, LaDean Niebauer; sons: Brian (Brenda) Niebauer and Patrick Niebauer; grandchildren: Brian Jr. (special friend: Alyssa Stiebohr), Christopher (Lizzie), and Dustin (special friend: Alexis Davis) Niebauer, Andrea (Luke) Bushman, Olivia (special friend: Jared Geiser), and Owen Fischer; great-grandchildren: Kahra and Gracie Bushman; sister: Louella Owen. He is further survived by; sisters-and-brothers-in-law: Joyce Tesch, Betty Tesch, Lois Meshak, Caroline (Duane) Schmudlach, David (Mary) Tesch. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his children: Robert and Karen Niebauer; sisters: Bernetta (Jim) Calkins, and Nancy (Gerald) Schettle; mother-and father-in-law: Alfred and Lena Tesch; sisters-and brothers-in-law: Austin Owen, Lorraine (Lavern) Strandlie, Wilbur (Ramona) Tesch, Wayne Tesch, John Meshak, Floyd Tesch.

A funeral service for Harold will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, 400 N Sawyer St. with Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park immediately following the service.

Harold’s family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the staff of the Michael D. Wachtel Cancer Center, Compassus Hospice, and Home Instead Senior Care. The compassionate care provided to Harold and family will never be forgotten.
