Hazel M. Buttke

Hazel M. Buttke, 83, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 10, 2008. She was born on July 16, 1924 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Bernhard and Mary (Hinske) Bathke. She married Gordon Buttke on June 29, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1986.She attended Peace Lutheran School and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1942. She worked at Leach Company during the war as a mechanical engineer. She then worked at Oshkosh West High School as a secretary for 27 years, retiring in 1994.Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, doing needlepoint, and spoiling her pet dog, Lady. She also enjoyed taking tickets at athletic events for Oshkosh West and Oshkosh North High Schools.She is survived by her son, Edward Buttke, her daughter, Georgia Buttke, grandsons, Daniel (Chelsea) Buttke; Ryan Buttke, former daughter-in-law, Mary Buttke, two brothers, John (Arleine) Bathke, and Gilbert (Elaine) Bathke, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon, and a brother Bernie (Sonny) Bathke. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Peace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 from 11 a.m. to the time of the service. The funeral will be held at Peace Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Nancy Krueger officiating. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank our mothers caregivers, Roxi, Conni, Mary Ann, Sheila, and Debi, and her hospice nurse Pat. A special thank you to the people who visited with our mother during her illness. Also, a thank you to Larry for keeping her sidewalks plowed this winter.
