Helen Francis Kleinschmidt

March 2, 1924 — December 15, 2008

Helen Francis Kleinschmidt, 84, passed on to a better life of farming on Monday, December 15, 2008 at Omro Care Center after a brief illness. She was born on March 2, 1924 to Joseph and Francis (Jiricka) Matejowec in Oshkosh, Wis. She married George W. Kleinschmidt on February 11, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois.Helen was extremely proud to have served her country in the United States Marine Corps from April 1944 to March 1945. One of the highlights during her time in the Marines was meeting First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt while visiting Washington D.C.Helens most precious times were spent on the farm located north of Fisk where she farmed with her husband. She loved driving tractor and working the land. She would often jump at any chance to get on the tractor and pick corn whether it was on her own land or helping the neighbor. She cherished all animals including her pet raccoons, cats and the four girls other wise known as the donkeys. Her special companions during her later years were Puppy One and Puppy Two her two Saints Bernard dogs. Surviving Helen is her son Wayne T. Matejowc of Oakdale Minn.; her daughter Lynda (Greg) Kleinschmidt-Johnson of rural Oshkosh; and two special grandchildren, Dewey L Josephson II of Greendale, Wis.; and Heather A. (Andrew) Thorson of Brookfield, Wis. Also surviving is her brother, Joseph Matejowec of Neenah; sister-in-law Jane Matejowec of Oshkosh; brother and sister-in law Richard and June Kleinschmidt of Oshkosh; nieces Wendy Potratz, Peggy Hayman, Carla Padilla, Lisa Pendergast, Lee Ann Lowe, Carol Davis, Patty Mueller, Sharon Gebhart and Diana Mierwsa; nephews Scott Kleinschmidt, John Kleinschmidt, Russell Kleinschmidt, Dan Folske, and Donald Matejowec.Her parents, her husband George Kleinschmidt and brother James Matejowec preceded Helen in death. Visitation for Helen will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2 0, 2008 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes & Crematory, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh with a Celebration of Life to be held at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Martin Ruge presiding.Since Helen celebrated her 70th birthday with a living wake with family, neighbors and flowers, it is her wish that in lieu of flowers one of the following charities be considered: Utica Volunteer Fire Department, the Oshkosh Area Humane Society or the Omro Scholarship Foundation
