Hollis E. Obrien

Hollis E. OBrien, 88 of Oshkosh, WI, passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2012 at home. He was born Jan. 3, 1924 in Pine River, WI. Hollis went to school, and spent most of his life in Oshkosh, WI. During World War II, Hollis spent three years in the C. B. I. Theater as an Airborne Engineer, part of the First Air Commando Force. He was awarded Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars- Good Conduct Medal and Distinguished Unit Badge - Victory Medal. Hollis drove truck for several years, prior to founding OBrien Transport in 1954. Later he was also one of the founders of LNH Truck Leasing. After 32 years, he retired and moved to Yuma Arizona. Hollis was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #292, a charter member of West Side Business Association, and a charter member of the Breakfast Optimist Club. He married Florence Horton, also of Oshkosh, in 1974 in Las Vegas, NV. Preceding in death: his wife, Florence, parents, Edward and Mandana (Washburn) OBrien, brother, Eugene OBrien and nephew Mark OBrien and spouse, Florence OBrien (Schmude-Horton). He is survived by a brother Don (Ruth) OBrien of AZ, their daughter, Tara OBrien Pride, children: Warren Horton of AZ, Carol Creed of NV and daughter-in-law Loah Horton of WI, 1 grand niece, 10 grandchildren 13 great grand children and 4 great great grandchildren. Also thanks to the ambulance staff and Mercy Medical staff.An Elks service will be at Elks Lodge #292 (175 W. Fernau Ave.) on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:30 am. Family and friends may visit at the Elks Club on Friday starting at 10:30 am. Graveside inurnment and Military Honors will be held at Riverside Cemetery (1901 Algoma Blvd.) at 2:00 pm on Friday.
