Jacqueline J. Walters

Jacqueline J. Walters, age 92 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at The Residence of Oshkosh on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was born on June 25, 1929, to the late Marvin “Beans” and Catherine (Donker) Zuehlke. Jacqueline married Stanley Walters on October 6, 1952, and they were blessed with three sons.

Jacqueline was a proud military wife who supported her husband’s career in the U.S. Army. Their family moved all over the country, and even lived in Italy for a period of time during Stanley’s service. She was a giving woman who supported many different organizations. She enjoyed playing Dominos, Scrabble, doing crosswords, and cross-stitching.

She is lovingly survived by her sons: Scott (Jeanne) Walters, and Steven “Tony” (significant other, Julie Johnson) Walters; granddaughters: Mindi (John) Prather, and Sasha (fiancé, Nick Styrook) Walters; great-grandchildren: Sunday, Titus, Talulah, and Violet Prather, and Liam Walters; brother: Mike (Jan) Anderson; special friends: Jenny Stusek, Ann Dolan, and Ann’s daughter, Ellie Freid. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her mother and father, Jacqueline was preceded in death by her step-father: Mike Anderson; step-mother: Ruth Zuehlke; husband: LTC Stanley Walters; son: Stanley “Tom” Walters; sister: Betty (Jack) Erdman; brothers-in-law: Bucky (Margaret) Walters, and Donald (Joanne) Walters; sister-in-law: Elaine (Joseph) Farrell; mother and father in law: Norman and Marion Walters.

A memorial service for Jacqueline will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Lake View Memorial Park chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd. with Lyn Zahorik officiating. Visitation will be held in the chapel from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM with the entombment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

Thank you to the staff at The Residence, as well as Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion provided to Jacqueline and family. Thank you to Ann, Jenny, and Pete Miller for your assistance with our mother the last several years; it has been deeply appreciated. Thank you also to the staff at Jansen’s Restaurant for delivering a hot meal to our mother each day for the last several years.

Today’s loss is deep. There will be a vast emptiness where our talks will be missed; our laughs, our reflections on life, the past, kids, marriage, being a military family, politics, your cards in my mailbox and of course…the Packers. Where the emptiness sits your love remains. You gave us all enough to last forever. I will always feel your love in all the moments you would’ve found joy in that are yet to come. You are now, and always have been, our angel. I’m so grateful that you got to reunite with your son and husband today. Thank you for being my grandma. I love you, and as you told me last time we talked, you know that I do. -Mindi
