James E Ostertag

November 8, 1937 — September 8, 2015

James E. Ostertag, 77, of Oshkosh, died September 8, 2015, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer over the last year. He was born on November 8, 1937, the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Baier) Ostertag. James married Patricia Burnett on May 18, 1973.He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was an avid sports fan; he loved the Packers, the Badgers, and the Brewers. He was a faith filled man; daily mass was an essential part of his daily routine. Jim loved his family and looked forward to holidays and spending time with them. James worked at Wisconsin National Life as an actuarial assistant most of his life and Miles Kimball as a warehouse manager.James is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, James (Tara) Ostertag; daughter, Beth (Dave) Follett; grandchildren, Noah, Tyson, Ella and Lily; brother, Raymond Ostertag; sisters, Carol Ostertag and Judy Kiessow.Funeral services for James will be at 11:00 am on Friday, September 11, 2015, at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, St. Vincent Catholic Church on the corner of Oregon and South Park Ave with Fr. Matt Siminar officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 9:00 am until time of service. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oshkosh.In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.Jims family would like to thank the Drs., nurses and Affinity Hospice for their care during Jims journey through cancer. We are deply grateful for all the prayers and support of our family, many friends, and prayer circles. A special thanks to Fr. Matt for his many visits and support during this time.
