James Mafredas

November 23, 1934 — June 28, 2014

James Joe Mafredas passed away on June 28, 2014 at the age of 79. He was born November 23, 1934 in Fond Du Lac to the late Daniel and Lucille (VanGorder) Mafredas. He attended Fond Du Lac schools, and married Carolyn Trumbower on August 4, 1956 at Church of Peace in Fond Du Lac. He served in the U.S. Navy, and worked at Chief Oshkosh, retiring from PH Glatfelter. Joe was also a member of First English Lutheran Church. Joe was a member of the First English golf league, and dart ball and bowling teams. Joe and Carolyn also belonged to the Timber Square Dance Club and Christian Fellowship. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #292, and he served as the Exalted Ruler from 2001- 2002. He was also involved with the Elks State and Grand Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, especially when accompanied by his granddaughters. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, daughter Tracy Casperson, granddaughters, Jessica and Nicole Casperson, sisters, Yvonne (Bonnie) Kriz, Nancy (Tom) Swiertz, and sister-in-laws, Sharon Mafredas, and Marge Trumbower, as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Daniel Mafredas, sister, Patricia (Leonard) Hoppa, father and mother-in-law, Newell and June Trumbower, two brother-in-laws, Wayne and Merlyn Trumbower, and Harold Kriz, and a sister-in-law, Delores Trumbower.Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside). Visitation will be from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm with Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
