James Quincy Ames

James Jim Q. Ames, 87, of Oshkosh died on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at Gabriels Villa. Jim was born on July 13, 1919 in Brooklyn, WI, the son of Robert Parke and Bernice Franklin Ames. James met Gladys McNutt at a church function in 1936 and they married on May 29, 1941 in Oshkosh. Gladys preceded him in death on November 14, 2004.Jim was a member of Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church and a former church trustee. He was an engineer at the Universal Foundry for over 35 years retiring in 1981. Jim enjoyed meeting with his friends from the foundry, playing cards, traveling, and going out to eat, he was always the life of the party. He was a member of the Foundry Mens Association and Oshkosh Kiwanis Club.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by two sons, Dr. Richard (Pam) Ames of Oshkosh, Jon Q. (Susie) Ames of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren, Christopher (Christine) Ames of Bolivar, MO, Carrie Ames of St. Louis, MO, Cara (Jordon) Bricco of Madison, WI, and Dr. Ryan (Liane Barb) Ames of Oshkosh; and two great grandchildren, Colin and Corinne Ames of Bolivar, MO. He was also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; two brothers, Paul and Richard Ames and two sisters, Elaine Miller and Mary Alice Morris.The funeral service will be on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Ave. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Eastside) on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM to the time of service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established.Jims family would like to thank the staff at Gabriels Villa for making him part of their family.
