James Robert Kiser

James Robert Kiser, age 83, of Oshkosh passed away at home with his family at his side. He was born in Oshkosh on April 9th, 1928 a son of the late William & Fryne Kiser-Russell. Jim married Gloria Schneider at Sacred Heart Parsonage on October 21st, 1950. Jim went into the Armed Services, six days after their wedding. He served two years in the United States Army, one being in Korea. Upon returning to Oshkosh he worked at Hoffmann Firestone for eight years, until he went into business for himself under the name of Oshkosh Tire and Appliance until March of 2008. He was also the owner of Oshkosh Safe-T-Way bus for 27 years.Jim enjoyed collecting and showing his 1935 and 1938 Cadillacs, snowmobiling, boating and traveling. He was a member of Oshkosh Elks #292. Jim and Gloria have also enjoyed spending their winters in Ft. Myers Florida. Jim is survived by his wife, Gloria of 61 years; son, Terry (girlfriend, SaraLautenschlager) of Oshkosh and daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Kowalik of Winneconne; one brother, Richard (Germaine) Kiser and sister, Judy (Robert) Gomoll of Waunakee, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Fryne Kiser.The funeral service for James will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, with Rev. Vicki Marxen officiating. Military Honors will follow. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to the service time. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established to the Aurora Visiting Nurses Association (700 N Westhaven Drive -Oshkosh) and the American Heart Association.The family would like to thank Dr. Blaha and especially Joan and Vicki from the Aurora Visiting Nurses Association of Oshkosh.
