Jeanne Koper Sperling

Jeanne K. Sperling (Kopczynski), Age 97, a resident of Waterford at Oshkosh passed away peacefully on January 20th. Jeanne was born June 24th, 1919, in Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY to the late Joseph and Josephine (Ostaseski) Kopczynski. She served her country in the U.S. Womens Marine Corp as a sergeant with active duty from 1942 to 1946. During her time in the Marine Corp Jeanne was responsible for inspecting construction of aircraft being built for the war effort in San Diego and Los Angeles. Jeanne married Fredrick Sperling on July 20, 1946 in El Toro CA. She held many jobs during her working career. Her favorite was working for the Saturday Evening Post in Indianapolis, IN. She loved the people and her work, often commenting what a wonderful organization it was. Jeanne lived many places during her life including, Long Island, New York, Seattle & Yakima, WA, Indianapolis, IN, Omro & Oshkosh, WI. Jeanne loved reading, watching birds, gardening, watching sports (basketball, football, golf, Olympics, Indy car racing). She was an avid Packer fan. Jeanne is survived by her two sons Ron (Carol) Sperling of Fox Island, WA, and Kenneth (Mary) Sperling of Oshkosh, Grandson Philip (Jen) Sperling of Omro, Great Grandchildren Andrew and Emily Sperling. She was preceded in death by Fred Sperling; her parents; brother Ted Kopczynski; sisters, Anne Sobeski, Winnifred Worth and Cecilia Otten. Family and Friends may visit Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (100 Lake Pointe Dr.) on Saturday, February 4th from 10AM-Noon with a funeral service by Fr. Jim Jugenheimer. Jeanne will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider volunteering at or making a donation to your favorite charity in Jeannes name. The family would like to thank the staff of The Waterford at Oshkosh and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care and concern they provided.
