Joan Mae Haringer

May 9, 1932 — March 21, 2011

Joan M. Perk Haringer passed into eternal life on Monday March 21, 2011 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, surrounded by her family. Joan was born May 9, 1933 in Clintonville, WI to Alton and Euella (Dahm) Perkins. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1951. After graduation, Joan moved to Oshkosh to attend Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated as an RN in 1954.While in Oshkosh, she met and married John Snapper Haringer in 1956. They made their home in Oshkosh for their entire married life. Joan enjoyed a long career as a well respected nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital as a staff nurse and later as the evening supervisor for 15 years. Her career then continued as an RN at the UW-O Student Health Center. She often joked about getting her real education from the college students whom she thoroughly enjoyed. Joan enjoyed reading, sunshine, flowers and old movies. She was a longtime member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish as well as the Mercy Medical Center School of Nursing Alumni. Joan will be remembered for her wit and generosity. She quietly supported many charities.Joan is survived by her husband, John, Oshkosh; daughters, Julie (Mike) Marx, Oshkosh and Jill Haringer, Chicago and Oshkosh; grandson, Jonathan (Terri) Marx, Oshkosh; granddog, Mac; sister, Helen (Dale) Huebner; brothers, James (Dee) Perkins, Green Bay, Thomas Perkins, The Villages, FL; Steve (Laurie) Perkins, Clintonville; nieces, Lori Michaels, Kenosha, WI; Barbara (Mike) Bova, New Berlin; Jessie (Chuck) Elliot, Wauwatosa, WI; Nephew, Neil (Amy) Perkins, Kennett Square, PA; her cat friends Turbo and Zollee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Euella Perkins, daughter Jan Claire and granddaughter Marissa Marx.A celebration of Joans life will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Parish, St Vincent Church (corner of Oregon St. and South Park Ave.) on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Matthew Simonar officiating.Family and friends may call at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM and on Friday at the church from 9:00 AM to the time of Mass. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 PM. led by Fr. William Van De Kreeke. Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial has been established to Joans favorite charities.The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Aurora Medical Center ER and ICU (especially Dr. Lewandowski, Brenda, Tracy and Tammie) for their expert and compassionate care to both Joan and her family. Thanks you also to Dr. Zernzach and his staff for many years of care and concern.
