John J Scheuer

John J. Jack Scheuer, 89, of Oshkosh, passed away at Evergreen - Creekview on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. He was born in Tacoma, WA on December 27, 1922 the only child of John and Betty (Carter) Scheuer.Jack moved to Oshkosh at age five to live with his aunt and uncle Henry and Josephine Juedes, who raised him. He attended Oshkosh Public Schools and Oshkosh State College. He served his country in the Army Air Force, 1916th Ordnance Company from 1941-1945 in the European Theatre. He married Dorothy Jorgensen on April 14, 1945 in Oshkosh at First English Lutheran Church, the Rev E. A. Koch officiating. Jack and Dorothy had three sons, James (Candy) Raleigh, NC, Jerrold of Ellington, CT, Jay (Susan) of Rowley, MA. He was employed by the U. S. Post Office for 35 years, first as a Railway Mail Clerk and later as a supervisor in the local office. He was a member of the local Elks organization for over 30 years and served as Exalted Ruler, a member and past commander of the AMVETS, the American Legion, DAV and the Lakeshore Lions.He is survived by his wife Dorothy; his sons, nine grandchildren, Nikki, Mindy, Carrie, Kate, Alex, Walter, Laura, Jacob and Rebecca; six great grandchildren, Ben, Julianne, Tim, Alex, Drew and Dominic. He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt and uncle.Jacks family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen for their compassionate care of Jack the past three months. They would also like to thank the Generations Hospice team for their help and support.Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside with the Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to the service time. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established.
