Josephine D. Werner, 88, of Oshkosh died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday April 14, 2010 at Omro Care Center. She was born August 29, 1921 in Berlin a daughter of August and Ida (Lempke) Nimke. Josephine had worked at Henderson Hoyt, Boston Store, Johnson Hill, and Foxes over the years. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church. Her survivors include a son Harold (Sheila) Gurkowski of Winneconne; four grandchildren Steven (Linda) Gurkowski, Andrew Gurkowski (special friend Rhonda), Becky Erspamer, and Dean Erspamer; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Joyce Brunner; two husbands, A. C. Gurkowski and Lyle Werner; four sisters, Nona, Lucille, Loretta, and Jane; and two brothers Alfred and Earl. A funeral service for Josephine will be held Monday April 19, 2010 at noon at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Eastside, with Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Waugoo Ave. funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Welsh Cemetery. Josephines family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Mercy Medical Center and a very special thank you to the staff at Omro Care Center for the care and compassion given to her during her stay their.
