Josephine Elizabeth Garbe

Josephine Jo E. Garbe, 91, of Oshkosh, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2007 at Northpoint Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 19, 1916 in Weyauwega a daughter of Herbert and Helene Lena (Luther) Hazen. On November 28, 1936 she married Victor J. Garbe in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1984.Jo was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and had worked at Deltox Co. for many years and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Halsey science lab for 15 years until her retirement. She enjoyed playing cards, working in her flower gardens, and the Chicago Cubs. Jo was an avid bowler and member of the Oshkosh Bowling Hall of Fame, 600 club and loved competing in local, state and national tournaments. Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Greg) Herdina of Oshkosh; her son Richard (Irene) Garbe of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, Michael (Angela) Herdina of Ringle, WI., Christopher Herdina of Oshkosh, Dr. Lynne (Jeff) Kunitz of Issaquah, WA., Ray (Penney) Garbe of Menasha, Peter Garbe of Oshkosh; five great grandchildren, a brother, Arthur Hazen of River Falls; a brother-in-law Russell Wagner and a sister-in-law Avis Hazen. Along with her husband, Josephine was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Hazen and five sisters, Harriet Britz, Marie Thompson, Margaret Vetter, Bernice Reader, and Geraldine Wagner.Funeral services for Jo will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home ? Eastside with the Rev. Paul Lidtke officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church (1206 Ontario Street, Oshkosh) would be appreciated. A special thank you to the staff in Hall one at Northpoint Medical and Rehabilitation Center and Heartland Hospice.
