June K. Schloerb

June K. Schloerb, age 96, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 in Littleton, CO. She was born on June 8, 1922 to the late Karl and Ella (Kuehl) Schloerb in Oshkosh. After graduating high school, she went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree from the Oshkosh State Teacher’s College, and later her Master of Science-Education degree in 1951 from UW Madison. June worked as an elementary school teacher for over 40 years.
June was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She was part of the Altar Guild, Rachael Women’s Circle, and social ministries. June was the head of the committee who made prayer shawls for St. John’s. She enjoyed reading at church, tennis, golf, wildflowers and bird watching. She volunteered at Mercy Medical Center, and was a docent at the Paine Art Center. June was 20 year breast cancer survivor.
June lost her heart to numerous kitties and provided them with an excellent home, tender care and royal treatment.
She enjoyed her time traveling with her best friends, Dorothy Koller and Louise and Rachel Solverud. They went to Egypt, South Africa, China, England and Alaska. June was always up for a challenge. She went hot air ballooning in Kenya, went on a safari to South Africa to see the great five. She went whale watching off Baja, zip lined through the Amazon canopy and fished for piranhas.
She was a lifelong patron of the arts, especially opera and theatre. June enjoyed the Metropolitan Opera HD broadcasts with her special friend Kathleen Da Silva. She attended many concerts and live theatrical performances.
During her time in Littleton, she was loved and cared for by Wendy and Dan Kenny and their family. She treasured her good times with Barbara Kidnegh and her late husband John in FL. June was grateful that Karen and Bob Haggerty came to share her home and help fulfill her wish to stay in her home with her cat, Jazzy. She will be greatly missed by her Oshkosh cousin, Linda Schrottky and Stuart (Sue) Schrottky.
She will be laid to rest next to her sister Ella May Schloerb per her wishes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Lake View Memorial Park chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd. with Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday in the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice Care of Littleton, CO for their assistance and help to make June’s last days so comfortable. Thank you Ruth, Rebecca and Jeanne.
