K. David Krause

November 10, 1936 — January 23, 2022

David Krause, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Sunday, January 23, 2022, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Oshkosh on November 10, 1936, to the late Karl and Gwendollyn (Edwards) Krause. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Barbara A. Jungwirth on June 29, 1959, in Oshkosh.

David was an active man enjoying anything to do with sports and the outdoors. He was a competitive athlete and loved to coach his kids and grandkids on how to be faster and stronger. He enjoyed all sports, but his favorite was football.  He earned a football scholarship and played a year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He transferred to UW-Oshkosh, where he finished his college football career and earned a Bachelor's Degree.

David sold construction equipment for his entire life, never fully retiring. His career started at Best Equipment and ended at Modern Rentals.  He enjoyed making lifelong friends with his customers.  For the past seven years, he looked forward to his time volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul repairing small appliances and purchasing treasures for friends and family.

David was the neighbor that everyone wanted.  He was always willing to go the extra mile to fix something, find something, sell something, or give advice.

David was most proud of his children and grandchildren.  He was definitely the patriarch, insisting that the family gather for regular dinners.  He was the one that started it all and brought us all together.  The one with all the funny stories.  The man so many idolized and dreamed to one day be like.  He inspired us all to be the best person we could be. His values of respect, integrity, perseverance, determination, and strong work ethic are a model for how we should all live our lives.

David is survived by his children: John (Beckie) Krause, Kay (Jim) Rauchle, Kara (Mitch) Krause-Stoler, Jill (Jeff) Jones; grandchildren: Gina and Trent Krause, Carly, Natalie and Reid Rauchle, Jack, Jarett, Jayden and Jenna Jones; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Krause. He was further preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Krause and brother, Warren Krause.

A funeral service for David will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 S Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service. Innichement will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
