K. Margaret HansenKAREN MARGARET HANSEN, age 91 passed away on October 11, 2012 following a brief illness. Margaret was born on November 14, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Jens Christian Herman and Marie (nee Andersen) Jensen. Margaret married Gerald W. Hansen of Oshkosh, WI on June 7, 1946 at Our Saviors Danish Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. During World War II, Margaret supported the war effort by working at the Glenn L. Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha, NE, now known as the Offutt Air Force Base. During this time, the plant built the B-26 Bombers. Margaret remembered President Roosevelt visiting the plant. Margaret enjoyed volunteering with the Special Olympics and Park View Health Center. She served as a board of directors member for the Oshkosh Boys and Girls Club for over 20 years. Margaret volunteered at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), along with her husband who was a docent at the EAA Museum. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Margarets Danish heritage was always special to her. Margaret enjoyed gardening, which she passed on to her sons. Even as Margaret gave her time to others, she was most committed to her family. Margaret is survived by her four sons Robert (Susan) Hansen, Lindenhurst, Illinois; Ronald (Amy) Hansen, Ottobrunn, Germany; Randall Hansen, Oshkosh; and Richard (Mary) Hansen, Oshkosh; and four grandchildren, Garrick (Kelly) Hansen, Allison Hansen, Erik Hansen and Elsa Hansen. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald, her parents, brother Harry Jensen, sisters Marion Houghton, and Lillian Andersen Warford. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home with the Rev. John Hobbins officiating. Burial was at Ellenwood Cemetery.The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Michael Duffy and Karie Chapman, Nurse Practitioner for their outstanding care. The family wishes to additionally extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Evergreen Retirement Community, to Teri, a wonderful friend, and to the Meals on Wheels volunteers, especially Laura. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Oshkosh would be appreciated.
