LaVerne Geffers Roch Montgomery, 89, of Oshkosh, died on Friday, June 06, 2014 (18 hour shy of her 90th birthday). She was born on June 7, 1924 to Peter (Geffers) and Millie (Schmidt). She found love and happiness again when she married Rex Montgomery in 1993.LaVerne started volunteer work at Mercy Hospital as a gray lady. While volunteering she was taken under the wing of Sister Martina Fahinger, who was the Director of Dietary at Mercy Hospital. Sister Martina was Lavernes friend and mentor. She hired LaVerne at Mercy Medical Center as a Diet Technician for 16 years. After the reorganization of the Mercys Dietary Department, LaVerne was promoted to Mercy Extended Care as Director of Food Service for 7 years. When Mercy Extended Care closed, LaVerne was employed at Evergreen Manor as Assistant Director of Food Services, and at Parkview Health Center as Food Service Supervisor.
