Lavonne Charlene Knitt

February 29, 1936 — January 31, 2015

LaVonne Charlene Knitt went home to be with her personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday January 31st, 2015.She was an amazing woman and a phenomenal matriarch who had an incredible zeal for life, loved her family unconditionally, was passionate about her work and loved Jesus. She exemplified Gods love by caring for and ministering to people her whole life. Her ministries were practical, varied and numerous. She often served along side her husband of 57 years, Carl, a Lutheran pastor as she taught Sunday School, lead led a teen singing group, loved and cared for those in prison, served in many womens groups, supported local and worldwide ministries and opened her home to the lonely, the needy and anyone her family brought home always making them feel like family. LaVonne struggled with severe arthritis and other health issues since her early 30s but she did not let it define her or slow her down much. As an overcomer, her boundless energy and eternal optimism impacted everything she put her mind to, and uplifted everyone around her. Always young at heart, extremely generous, deeply loyal and fiercely competitive. She loved life! One of her great joys outside of the people she loved, was her business The Second Handlers LTD, her estate sale business which she started in 1979 along with two of her close friends. The Second Handlers became the largest estate sale business in the Fox Valley and is to this day and will go on under the care and expertise of her son Tony and her faithful employees. She taught us how to love God, love people, love each other and love ourselves. As God sent His angels to take her home and brought her before the throne of Christ we know that she was told Well done good and faithful servant. Her legacy will be lived out by the countless lives she touched. The world is a better place because she lived. She is survived by her husband Carl, two sons: Robert(Sandy) Knitt of Butte des Morts, and Tony(Nikki) Knitt of Oshkosh; one daughter Jill(James) Geracie, of Brookfield, nine grandchildren Joshua, Peter, Katie, Daniel, Olivia, Rachel, Rebekah, Elena, Samuel, one sister Judy(Roger) Cummings. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Gladys Miller and her brother Larry Miller.A funeral service will be for LaVonne will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church (2580 W. 9thAve.) Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside and again on Saturday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.Burial will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery- Town of Black Wolf.
