Leo Joseph Galica

February 16, 1929 — November 17, 2017

Leo Galica, age 88 of Oshkosh, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 surrounded by family in his home. He was born on February 16, 1929 to the late John and Catherine (Robuck) Galica. Leo and Barb (Baumgartner) were united in marriage on November 24, 1966. Leo served our country in the Pacific Theater on board Battleship USS Iowa BB61. After his service in the Navy, he worked at and retired from, Rockwell after 33 years of dedication to the company. During retirement, he was the owner and promoter of Leo’s Speedway for 17 years. Leo and his wife Barb were also Co-Managers of the Winnebago County Fair for 17 years. Leo also proudly served in the Knights of Columbus.
Leo and Barb were blessed to be foster parents for 50 years. Together, they adopted 13 children. Leo enjoyed his years driving stockcars and hunting at his cabin in Jackson Co. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting moose in Canada with his friends, Oscar Wolfgram and Palmer Swaunke.
Leo is survived by his loving wife, Barb; his children: Karl, Michael (Lisa), Robin (Cheryl), Shelby, Brian, Theresa, Cheryl, Crystal Ann, Kristl Marie, Jerry, Sony, Samantha (Sammy Jo), and Nicole; grandchildren: Emily, Bythe, Brianna, Bethany, Ariannya, and Elana; his sister, Regina.
Leo was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Roman, Mike, Harry, and Stanley; and sisters, Irene and Betty. Leo is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Leo also had many special friends throughout his lifetime whom he loved very dearly.
Services for Leo will be held at 11AM on November 22, 2017 at Konrad-Behlman Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr). A visitation will be held from 4PM until 6PM on November 21, 2017 and also on November 22, 2017 from 10AM until the time of service.
The family would like to thank the staff at St Elizabeth Hospital and Dr. Dirk Fisher for the care and kindness shown to the end; Dr Mary Stansty of VA Clinic for the extreme concern and care; and Dr Erroll Springer and his care and kindness shown to the family. The family would also like to thank the Staff at Ascension Hospice for their loving care of Leo.
