Leona Rose Wonser

Leona R. Wonser, 95, of Oshkosh died Monday September 20, 2010 at her residence in Bella Vista. She was born December 11, 1914 in Oshkosh a daughter of Frank and Lenora (Rosewarski) Boettcher. Leona married George S. Wonser on November 17, 1935 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1981. Leona owned and operated Powder Box Beauty Salon for many years. She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament-Parish and was in the Mercy Medical Auxiliary for many years. Her survivors include two daughters Patricia Van Dyke of Minneapolis and Mary Jo Lurvey of Eagle River, a son Peter (Carol) Wonser of Rhinelander, 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters Sallie and Lenore, a son Paul, sisters, and brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial for Leona will be held Friday September 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish-St. Mary Church with Rev. James Jugenheimer officiating. Visitation will be held Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial in Leona's memory is being established to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and Father Carr's Place 2 B. Leona's family would like to thank the staff at Bella Vista and Heartland Hospice for the great care given to Leona.
