Lillian J Nienass

June 20, 1915 — June 11, 2014

Asleep in Jesus, passed away on June 11, 2014 at age 98; was born on June 20, 1915, the daughter of George and Josephine (Buenzli) Ascher in Bay View, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee. Her father died in 1917 and her mother then married Henry Mauch in 1920, her stepfather for 26 years. Lillian was a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School, and attended evening classes at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was employed in the office of the American Candy Co. and at the Baldwin Piano Store in Milwaukee before her marriage to Eric O. Neinass Sr. on September 10, 1938, for 58 years until his death in 1996. Lillian volunteered for 14 years as a co-manager at the Economy Store (a Lutheran thrift store in Milwaukee) and for 20 years at the Lutheran Home for the Aging in Wauwatosa where she and her husband often entertained by giving organ concerts. Lillian had a great love of the game of scrabble and was known as the Scrabble Queen of Evergreen.Preceding Lillian in death were her three brothers and one sister and their spouses: Frank Ascher (Lily); Erwin Ascher (Geneva); Alfred Ascher (Elizabeth); and Frieda Cooper (Charles); a daughter-in-law, Aurelie Nienass, and a son-in-law, Alvin Simon.Surviving Lillian are her beloved children: daughter, Ruth Nienass Simon, of Manchester, Missouri, and son, Eric Nienass Jr. and his wife Erlinda of Melbourne, Florida, and her dear grandchildren, William and Sherri Nienass, as well as other relatives and friends. Lillian was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In keeping with Lillians wishes cremation has taken place and no visitation or funeral services will be held.
