Lillian Marie Adler Rapp, born October 5, 1920 in Greeley, CO to Henry and Anna Adler, was called peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday August 5, 2008 while at Aurora Medical Center.As a young girl, Lillian moved to Wisconsin with her family. She graduated from Milwaukee North High School and upon graduation she moved to Sheboygan, WI with her family.Lillian attended technical school and worked as a legal secretary in Sheboygan. While working she met her future husband, Eugene Rapp who was a college student at Lakeland College. Lillian and Eugene were married on December 30, 1945 in Minnesota Lake, MN. Lillian and Eugene made their first home together in Bertha, MN. After serving in Bertha, they moved to Minnesota Lake, MN where E.R. pastured for eight years.They had the opportunity to move to Oshkosh, where they ministered at Emmanuel U.C.C. Oshkosh then became their home for fifty years.Lillian was a very involved person, both in her church and in her community. She was the past president of the PTAs at Jefferson, Smith and at South Park Middle Schools, as well as the city wide PTA president. She was a band parent at OWHS, past president of the Casa Cara House, board member at Evergreen Retirement Community, President of Church Women United, and the Oshkosh Christian Womens Club. At Emmanuel, she was active in the Daughters of Sarah, Womens Guild, Couples Club, the church choir and taught many years of confirmation.Lillian enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and cooking for her family and friends. Proud to be a card carrying member of the Republican Party, she was well versed in politics, religion, and the Bible. She enjoyed sewing, fashion and a stylish pair of shoes. But, Lillian will probably best be remembered for her whit and great sense of humor, and her love of a good joke. Her kindness, warmth, and love will be cherished by her children, grandchildren and friends.Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E.R. Rapp, her parents Henry and Anna (Gettman) Adler, and by her brother Harold Heins. She is survived by her son, David Rapp and his wife, Mary, her daughters, Sara Scherer and her husband, Joe, Mary Speaker and her husband, John, and Stephanie Kintopf and her husband, Jeff. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Corrie (David Ortiz) Scherer, J.P. (Kerri) Scherer, Becky (Eddy) Guzman, Brooke (Ben) Rapp, Whitney (James) Sperance, Austin John Speaker, Taylor Speaker, Kylie, Sidonie, and Griffin Kintopf; great grandchildren, Kiri Scherer, Olivia Scherer, Grace Guzman, Aaron Ortiz, and Lily Sperance; her brothers, Wally (Betty) Adler, and Vernon Adler.A celebration of Lillians life will be held on Friday August 8, 2008 at Emmanuel U.C.C. from 3:00 to 5:00 PM with services immediately following with Pastor R. David Gaskill officiating.A memorial has been established in Lillians name for Emmanuel United Church of Christ.For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. JOHN 3:16.
