Linda Knapp Mccreery

June 18, 1942 — December 26, 2005

Linda Knapp McCreery, 63, of Oshkosh, went to her Lord and Savior with grace and dignity, on Monday December 26, 2005. Linda was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on June 18, 1942, a daughter of Russell L. and Leone Smith Knapp. Joe E. McCreery and Linda were wed on December 31, 1963 at Wanamaker Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IndianaLinda received her BS and MS from Indiana University, and had been an elementary teacher and later an academic counselor at the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh. She was a member of the First Congregational Church.Linda was active in the Oshkosh Service League, the Church, as a volunteer at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation, and was involved with many civic and social organizations. She befriended many and counseled others also afflicted with cancer. Linda loved the outdoors, golfing, boating and gardening. Her greatest joy was sharing activities with her children and her five beautiful grandchildren. Linda also loved to travel, enjoyed learning new cultures and seeing the beauty of our world.Survivors include her husband Joe E. McCreery, Oshkosh; one son, Joseph Matthew (Keira) McCreery, Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Melissa (Joel) Riley, Glen Ellyn, Illinois; one brother, Robert Russell (Nancy) Knapp, Spencer, Indiana; five grandchildren, Joseph Asher Riley, Sullivan Patrick McCreery, Adeline Knapp Riley, Ella French Riley, and Brogan Matthew McCreery; one brother-in-law, James R. (Cheerful) McCreery, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell L. and Leone Knapp, a sister, Marilyn Leone Wagoner, and her father and mother-in-law, Earl O. and Velma V. McCreery.A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Paine Art Center (1410 Algoma Blvd.) on Thursday Dec. 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, The funeral service will be held at First Congregational Church (137 Algoma Blvd,) on Friday Dec. 30 at 10:30 AM. with Reverends Ralph and Carol DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. A private entombment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park. Her family wishes to express gratitude to Doctors, nurses and staffs of University Hospital, Mercy Medical Center, Wachtel Cancer Center and Affinity Hospice. We also thank very special care giver, Roxanne Le Mieux and many friends, for the dedicated and loving care for Linda and the family.A Linda McCreery memorial has been established in her honor at the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. 404 N.
