Lois J. Gaines, 81, of Oshkosh, died on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Oshkosh. She was born on June 10, 1931 in Oshkosh the daughter of John and Violet Witt Zernzach. Lois was a graduate of Oshkosh High School. After high school Lois moved to Tulsa, OK where she went to school and became an X-Ray technician. She met and married her husband, George Gains, in Tulsa. Lois was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. She greatly valued education, enjoyed reading, and was a great conversationalist. Lois was a nursing assistant in the Oshkosh area until her retirement.Survivors include her sons, John (Sol Veig) Gaines of Tucson, AZ, Joseph Gains of Glenwood Springs, CO; sisters, Violet (Jim) Metz of Oshkosh, Gloria (Milton Hank) Farr of Manassas, VA, Patricia Boyd of Tulsa, OK, Victoria (Grant) Bayer of Mt. Ephraim, NJ; brothers, John Zernzach of Ashland, WI, Rudolph Zernzach of Omro, WI; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Douglas Zernzach.The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Lake View Memorial Park Chapel (2786 Algoma Blvd) with the Rev. Jeffrey Duquaine officiating. Family and friends may visit at the chapel on Saturday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.A memorial has been established to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church.
