Lori J. Lane

June 4, 1962 — May 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Lori Lane announces her passing on Monday, May 2nd, 2022 at the age of 59.

Lori wasn't just a mom, a grandma, or a beautiful person both inside and out: She was an extraordinary woman who left a powerful impression on every person she met. She was a rare blend of strength, perseverance, determination, humor, kindness, and most importantly, love.

Lori loved fully and completely, especially when it came to her children, and she left behind a family who knew they were loved by her.

In the words of her son, Brian Ostertag, "My mom was the kindest, most loving person I've ever known. She mothered everyone, so much that my friends would often call her mom. She took this as a compliment and never shied away from being there for others who needed support in one way or another. As her son, I feel like I grew up with the most amazing role model who taught me to always be myself and to always push myself to learn more. I will miss her smile, her laugh, her sage advice, and her bubbly personality. Mom, thank you for everything you've given us, for every loving word and loving gesture (of which there were so many), and the countless incredible memories we shared during your precious time on earth. It has been a great privilege to have you as my mom, and I will always be eternally grateful for you."

Lori Jean Lane was born on June 4th, 1962 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Carol Bollom (Crombie) and Claude Tollard.

Lori had a best friend already waiting for her in her older sister, Tammi, and together the two shared a special bond that would last a lifetime. Lori and Tammi weren't just sisters, they were each other's protectors, advocates, exchanger of Hallmark cards for every possible holiday and occasion, and as both sisters grew older and started their own families, they shared in the joys of motherhood together.

Lori was blessed with 4 beautiful children who she loved more than anything and she dedicated her whole life to showing them the meaning of such an ever-lasting and all encompassing love.

Some of Lori's happiest memories were the many idyllic days spent with her children whether it was playing at the park, going to the zoo and the beach, or heading to the Little Farmer to get caramel apples and pick out pumpkins in autumn. She especially found joy in the simple things her children did like watching them read one of their favorite books, ride their bicycles around the block, or playing in the sandbox and swing on their backyard swingset.

"To be a child of my mom truly meant knowing you were loved by her," said her daughter, Bodell, "There was no doubt, no second-guessing - her love was always present and accessible and she loved us completely and unconditionally from the moment we were born."

This love was so abundantly palpable that it easily overflowed and touched the lives of the many people nearby.  "All my friends called her mom," said her son, Aaron. "They could just be themselves and my mom accepted them without question. It truly is an honor to call her my mom."

Lori selflessly and wholeheartedly dedicated her life to being a mom and to the betterment of her children's lives. She was a permanent fixture at her children's schools; attending every field trip, baking cookies or treats for their classes, making her infamous taco salad which brought rave reviews from all of the teachers, and volunteering for every classroom activity she could.

Lori made the world a better place every single day that she was in it, and though our hearts ache at her passing, her family finds comfort knowing that she is in heaven with loved ones.

Thank you mom, for everything. You are already so deeply missed. Until we see you again.

Lori was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Ostertag, as well as her parents, Carol Bollom and Claude Tollard, and her step-father Ralph Bollom. Lori will be lovingly remembered by her children, Aaron (Eileen) Bullock, Bodell (Jim) Ostertag, and U.S. Navy Chief Brian (Rutche) Ostertag; her grandchildren, Nathan Bell, Zachary Bell, Trishia Ostertag, Valerie Ostertag, Brianna Ostertag, Zoe Ostertag, Grant Ostertag, and Lilee Ostertag; her siblings Tammi Reimer, Amy (Cary) Bullock-McMahon, and Cory Bullock, her aunt Mary (Jim) Wrage; her cousins Ty (Angel) Wrage and Todd (Mia) Wrage; her nephews and nieces, Deanna (Preston) Freman, Casey (Jill) Reimer, David (Kim) Reimer, Stephanie (Larry) Dillenberg, Michael (Tuley) Reimer, Alexander (McKayla) Bullock, Cody Clark, and Kiana (Koyer) Sabel; and her many great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A very big and special thank you to her niece Deanna, her sister Tammi, and her Aunt Mary, who made such an impact on Lori's life especially in her later years.
