Lorin Leonard Soderbeck

March 31, 1925 — June 9, 2013

Lorin L. Soderbeck, age 88, of Oshkosh, passed away on June 9, 2013 at Westbrook Manor. He was born on March 31, 1925 in Prentice, Wisconsin a son of Emil and Lillian Anderson Soderbeck. On December 15, 1951 he married Shirley Penzenstadler in Oshkosh.Lorin was a veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII as a diesel mechanic. Being proud of his military service he was a member of the American Legion, was involved at Military Veterans Museum and especially proud to go to Washington D.C. on the Veterans Honor Flight. He retired from International Paper in 1991 after 41 years. He received his high school diploma from Omro High School in 2004. He was very proud of being a Mason where he was a member of Oshkosh Lodge # 27 F&AM, where he served as Past Grand Chaplain and Past Master, Tyrian Chapter 15 Past High Priest, Order of High Priesthood, Oshkosh Council No. 8 Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Past Grand Chaplin, Oshkosh Commandery No. 11 Past Commander, Past Aide to Grand Commander, Member of Past Commanders Association, Member of Knight York Cross of Honour, North Central Wisconsin York Rite College No. 112, Past Governor and Order of Purple Cross, H.R.A.K.T.P., Simon of Cyrene XV Past Preceptor, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, NMJ, Green Bay Past Most Wise Master, Member of Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Bethel No. 2, Member Order of Eastern Star, Oriental No. 16, Member of Red Cross of Constantine, Member Nicolet Conclave, Green Bay He also was a member Beja Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. Green Bay, Winnebagoland Shrine Club, Mascoutin Shrine Club, Tripoli Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. Milwaukee.. He enjoyed traveling with Shirley in the United States and Europe, camping, his golf cart, and his Chrysler minivan. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.He is survived by his wife Shirley, two daughters Gail(Tom) McCrory, Becky Venne, two grandchildren Kim McCrory, David McCrory, three sisters Erline Voight, Darlene Sheveland, Yvonne Kryzianiak and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Rosalyn Norlin, and Delores OhrstromA memorial service for Lorin will be held on Monday June 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside with Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. A Masonic service will be held on Monday at 10:45 a.m. along with military honors following the memorial service.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.The Soderbeck family would like to thank the staff at Eden Meadows for caring for Lorin and to Westbrook Manor for their care and compassion shown to Lorin.
