Mabel May Reichard

July 31, 1922 — March 8, 2013

Mabel May Reichard, 90, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully Friday March 8, 2013 at Oakwood Manor with her family at her side. She was born July 31, 1922 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Curt and Hazel Starke. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in January 1941. On April 27, 1946 she married Gordon Reichard at the St. Peters Catholic Church Rectory. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1981.Mabel was very active in her church, St. Pauls United Church of Christ (UCC), for many years. With her children, she was involved in Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts, and 4-H. She enjoyed many activities with friends including bridge club, dance club, bowling, and camping with family. Over the years she was employed as a clerk at Angers Jewelry Store, a medical assistant in the office of Dr. Ray Wagner, MD, and a volunteer with The American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She is survived by her children, David (Peggy) Reichard of Hortonville, Kathleen (Charles) Nigl of Oshkosh, Michael Reichard of Oshkosh, Annette Reichard of Omro, and Christine Reichard of Omro; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Mark) Boardman, Daniel (Janet) Reichard, Ryan ( partner Erik) Reichard, Matthew (Heather) Nigl, Michelle (fianc Alex) Nigl, Michael Nigl, Mackenzie Nigl, and Brian (Nicole) Reichard; two step-grandchildren, Tacey Alsteen and Terri Henning; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Neil Starke; and a sister, Dorothy Hable. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Debra Reichard; an infant brother; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Starke and Dorothy Skiba; and a brother-in-law, Ervin Hable.A funeral service for Mabel is being held Saturday March 16, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Pauls UCC (1250 Leonard Point Rd., Oshkosh), the Reverend RaeAnn Beebe officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established to St. Pauls UCC in memory of Mabel.Mabels family would like to thank Dr. Steven Blaha, Rev. RaeAnn Beebe, the staffs of Arborview Manor, Oakwood Manor, and Heartland Hospice, with a special thank you to Deb and Emily, for all the care and help that Mabel and the family received.
