Marcella M. Coates

Marcella "Marcy" Coates, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, January 19, 2020. She was born October 7th, 1923 to the late Edwin and Leona (Steinhilber) Marks. She was married to Robert M. Coates for more than 50 years.
Marcy was 96 years young; she was a very sassy, kind and gentle mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marcy always looked forward to her glass of wine every evening. She loved making puzzles, in fact, she had her very own puzzle room in Bethel Home where many friends, family and nurses would stop in and help with making them. Marcy volunteered at Mercy Medical Center and the Senior Center for many years.
Marcy lived at Bethel Home for about five years and lived at Simeanna Apartments for many years prior. She met a lot of good friends throughout her time living at both locations. She loved having visitors especially Sadie, Pete and Shannon’s dog. Marcy was well-loved. Some might have known her as “Marcy”, “Blonde” or “Marcy Kabarcy”. All that knew her will hold onto treasured memories of her.
Marcy is survived by her children, Dianne L. Coates, David L. Coates and Skip L. (Claudia) Coates; grandchildren, Christine L. (Jeff) Niles, Angela (Cary Eisch) Wright, Leonard (Tonya) Wright, Russell (Joelaine)Wright, Peter (Shannon) Wright, Ian (Christi) Coates, Laura Coates and Ryan Coates. She is further survived by twelve great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Marcy was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter Debbie, a grandson, a sister, a nephew and brother-in-law.
A memorial service for Marcy will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place in Lake View Memorial Park.
