Marie Evelyn Hinz

Marie E. Hinz, age 86 of Oshkosh, died at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center on Thursday October 22, 2009. She was born in Garretson, SD on November 12, 1922, a daughter of Melvin and Anna Iverson Nesheim. She grew up in South Dakota until she met Edmund Hinz of Oshkosh while he was stationed in Sioux Falls in the Army Air Corps, for radio operator training school. They were married on May 11, 1945 in Garretson, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2000.Marie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was stricken with Alzheimers disease for several years. Marie loved poetry and had her poems published. She was a homemaker and had five children. She loved to cook and was a wonderful mother.Survivors include three sons, Steven and Michael Hinz, of Oshkosh; Robert (Val) Hinz, of Waupaca; one daughter, Kathleen Nigl, of Oshkosh; one sister, Betty Pugh, of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Melvin Nesheim Jr, of South Dakota; six grandchildren, Scott and Paul Nigl, Megan, Michelle, Kassy and Trevor Hinz; one step grandchild, Kale Reichenberger; four great grandchildren, Alex, Brennan, Brianna Nigl, and Kaitlynn Buelen-Hinz; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Cheryl Hinz in 1949 as a young child 2 1/2 years old; four brothers, Lloyd, Carmen and Milfred, and 1 brother in infancy; one sister, Mildred Backus. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church (370 Bowen St) on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Marvin Ahlborn officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Monday from 11:30 am to the time of service. Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. Marie will be sadly missed by family and friends. Thanks to North Point Nursing Home and staff for their wonderful care they gave to our mother.
