Marjorie "Marge" Alice Buelow

March 24, 1939 — June 23, 2021

Marge, age 82, went home to heaven unexpectedly on June 23rd, 2021. Marge was born in Oshkosh on March 24th, 1939 to the late Theodore A. and Alice M. (Rushesky) Freiberg. After graduating from Oshkosh high school in 1957 she married the man and love of her life, her soul mate, Duane Buelow on June 27th, 1959, at St. Joseph’s Church in Oshkosh. Marge and Duane’s devotion and dedication to one another was undeniable, and resulted in sharing 62 amazing and wonderful years devoting and dedicating their love, time, and support to raising their four children together. Both she and Duane were loyal members of First English Lutheran Church, and each year Marge loved decorating the Easter Cross of lilies with her children, packing and delivering Christmas baskets with Duane to those in need. In addition to raising her children Marge worked as a secretary in the family Court Commissioners office at the Winnebago County courthouse for more than 28 years. Through her employment, and at every opportunity she had, Marge would build lifelong friendships she would continue to enjoy throughout her retirement.
Marge’s endless spirit, quick wit, sense of humor and energy was lit by family, love, and an incredible desire for humor, laughter, having fun and making the most of every day. Marge relied on her witty sometimes dry sense of humor to get your reaction, to share her insight, to share her thoughts, with her unending desire to bring joy through laughter, humor, and love. She had an amazing spirit that needed to be shared all day, and every day, living and loving life to the fullest. Marge made sure to keep everyone connected through her amazing recollection, documentation, and sharing of family activities, stories, and pictures. She never wasted a day, or an opportunity, and always desired to get the most out of every day with a dedication to her family and friends. Marge and Duane’s family cottage, better known as “Buelow’s Footage” for the past thirty years was the destination of choice for building family fun memories of swimming, fishing, boating, cribbage, poker, family games, relaxing, and more. Marge always made sure everyone was taken care of with an abundance of food, and the many treats on the counter. Marge loved her treats and wanted everyone to enjoy the same. Marge loved relaxing on her porch at the cottage, overlooking the fire pit, the swing, and the lake, while reading her favorite books and being able to keep an eye on all the family activities inside and out.
Marge and Duane loved to travel and take family vacations in the 70’s to lake cottages, and “long” road trips to various mid-west destinations. Marge loved to see shows and play games of chance, so in the 70’s and 80’s Marge and Duane enjoyed a few “friends only” trips to Las Vegas, NV. Walking around in a casino with Marge was a treat and vision of happiness you would never forget. When retirement arrived in the 90’s, Marge and Duane would join their friends, sometimes family would join, and make countless other friendships on their annual winter destination to Bullhead City, AZ for over 25 years. Marge loved playing games including her favorite BINGO, but cribbage, poker, and slots were all a close second for sure.
Whether it was at the family home on Wright Street for five plus decades, the Oakwood Street Condo for the last year, or the family cottage, Marge could always be found reading a book, assembling the latest challenging puzzle, or working on her beautiful flower gardens. Marge loved knitting and baking. Many dishcloths and blankets were shared, and of course you counted on Marge’s cookies for any special occasion or simply finding the right container any day of the week to enjoy her cookies of choice.
Dad’s amazing wife Marge, our beautiful Mom, proud Grandma, and Great Grandma, was the family “rock” as Dad would say. Our world will never be the same without her! Marge lived life to the fullest, with no regrets, and provided so much life, energy, and love to all of us. We will miss her incredibly until the day we all rest in peace in Jesus’ arms.
Marge is survived by her husband, Duane; children, Debbie (Dean) Matthias, Mimi (Bob) Adam, Cheryl (Jeff) Curtin, Duane (Amy) Buelow; eight grandchildren, Tracy (Andy Kanak) Matthias, Kelly (Jake) Rademacher, Amanda (Jesse Wellens) Adam, Jason (Susan) Adam, Bryan (Samantha) Clark, Jackson (Alicia Rasmussen) Clark, Cameron (Artina Vite) Buelow, and Cassandra Buelow; six great-grandchildren, Silas, August, Stella, Luke, Gabriel, Eleanor plus 2 blessings on the way. Marge loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and was counting the days to welcome two new beautiful babies. Marge is survived by her siblings, Jackie Gross, Barb (Carl) Salzer, Emery (Pam), and Peter (Fran) Freiberg, and her sisters-in-law, Joanne Freiberg, and Lucy Meyer. She is further survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the friends she developed over the years.
In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her brothers, Ted, and Bruce Freiberg; sisters in law Myrtle (Ken) Bernard, Shirley Buelow, LaVerne Buelow, Carolyn Proctor; brother in law Marlyn (Delores) Buelow; father and mother in law Harvey (Alvina) Buelow.
