Mark K. Yanke

Mark K. Yanke, age 63, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on October 29, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center. He was born to Robert and Donna (Schmidt) Yanke on January 29, 1958 in Fond Du Lac. Mark graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1976. He married the love of his life, Kay Schmiedel, at Good Shepherd Lutheran in Fond Du Lac on April 9, 1983. Mark was a Shop Supervisor at Viking Steel for 20 years. He then began his work in the custodial arts at the Oshkosh Area School District before his retirement in 2019. Though short, Mark thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. Mark was an extremely talented craftsman and woodworker and could always be found working in his workshop. He built many items around his house; including his Adirondack chairs and other furniture, the upper and lower decks of his house, and raised garden beds for Kay. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build. Mark was also a lover of the outdoors; both he and Kay loved going on walks and hikes together as well as going fishing which he was very passionate about. He also enjoyed hunting and loved to be with his family, especially his grandson Connor.
Mark will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Kay; son, Justin (Brittany) Yanke; daughter, Jenna (Chris) Marohl; mother, Donna Yanke; siblings, Bob (Mari) Yanke, Jim Yanke, Karen (Rick) Cudnohoske, and Edie (John) Nieman; as well as his partner in crime, his grandson Connor and snuggle buddy Chester the cat. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Gary Priebe; his loving in-laws from Kays family; and many loving friends, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Mark was welcomed into heaven by his father, Robert Yanke Sr., and his sister, Jean Priebe.
A memorial service for Mark will be held at Living Water Lutheran Church on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:30AM. John Nieman will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 10AM until 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marshfield Medical Center for the compassionate care they gave to Mark.
