Mary Ann (Hopkins) King was born on May 3, 1932. She died on September 30, 2016 at Westbrooke Manor in Oshkosh. Mary Ann was raised in Northbrook Illinois and graduated from Kemper Hall, Kenosha and then attended Northwestern University. It was there that she met her future husband, John Burton King. They were married on New Years Day, 1950. Mary Ann and Burt made their home in Oshkosh ever since.Mary Ann was well loved for her ready sense of humor and her ability to affirm the good qualities in others. She was self-effacing and gracious, drawing people to her company. Mary Ann was known and admired for her knowledge of English and Early American antiques and her ability to use them to create a welcoming home that exuded warmth for her family and friends. She was an accomplished pianist and most enjoyed the passionate music of Rachmaninoff. Mary Ann was most devoted to her five children, the Episcopal Church (most especially her church family at Trinity Episcopal - Oshkosh), and her golden retrievers. In her final difficult years, she most appreciated the steady companionship of her husband and dear friends Dorothy Felda and Gloria Lennon. She was also thankful for the friendship and guidance of Deacon Sandy Muinde. Mary Ann is survived by her Husband: John Burton King her children: Tina (King) Haffeman (late Gary Haffeman), John H. King (Tami), Kathryn King, Kelly (King) Bankole (Cullen), Andrew B. King (Jesica), grandchildren: Hadley (Haffeman) Burger, Katelund (King) Jorgensen, Kelsey King, Joseph Curcurio, Teresa Curcurio, Lindsay Bankole, Scott Bankole, Grace King, John R. King, MaryKate King, Andrew H. King.Great grandchildren: Max Burger, Ellie Burger, Liam Jorgensen, John Jorgensen, Theodore Jorgensen, Sisters: Katy (Hopkins) Larson and Jane (Hopkins) Mrochinksi.She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Catherine HopkinsMemorial services for Mary Ann will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church(311 Division St) at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.Her family would like to thank her doctors and caregivers, most especially Dr. Daniel Kaiser, Renee Vanden Heuvel (Preferred Home Health Care) and all of the kind personnel at Aurora, Affinity, Eden Meadows, Evergreen Rehabilitation, Westbrooke, and Heartland Hospice.In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
