Mary Elizabeth St. John

Mary E. St. John, 86 of Oshkosh, died at Evergreen Retirement Community on Thursday June 5, 2008. She was born in Baraboo, WI on November 14, 1921, a daughter of Duane and Marie Settergren Peck. Mary married Bernard Hank St. John in Baraboo on August 25, 1941. Hank preceded her in death on January 12, 1996.Along with her husband they owned and operated Hanks Garden Center in Baraboo, until their retirement. She loved flowers, gardening and enjoyed the game of golf.Survivors include one son, Michael (Patricia) St. John of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Donna (Bill) Kudlas, of Oshkosh and Nancy (Ron) Knutson, of Sun Prairie; one sister, Dorothy Alexander of Baraboo; three grandchildren, Scott (Jane) Kudlas, of Richmond, VA; Ann Kudlas, of Chicago, IL; Tracy (Jamie) Hentges, of Colorado Springs, CO; and two great grandchildren, Eva Hentges and Erin Kudlas. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas St. John, two brothers and two sisters.In keeping with Marys wishes a private graveside service will be held with inurnment at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo.Special thanks are extended to the staff at Evergreen Retirement Community, especially Shirley and Laura for their care and compassion.
