Maryanna Hart

April 26, 1922 — April 6, 2021

Maryanna Hart, 98, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 in Oshkosh.

Maryanna was born on April 26, 1922 in Sussex, WI to the late John and Emma Stier. Upon graduation from Waukesha High School, Maryanna worked as a secretary for a time, before later moving into the school food services, advancing to the position of Food Service Director for Sussex Hamilton School District. On August 22, 1942, Maryanna married Virgil “Butch” Hart and together they had four children. Upon retirement, Butch and Maryanna moved to Oshkosh and were married for 51 years, until Butch’s death in 1994.
Maryanna loved her family more than anything and enjoyed cooking meals for large family gatherings. Christmas was always celebrated at her house where her famous Christmas cookies made an appearance. Everyone was welcomed at Maryanna’s home, and she was well known for her German potato salad and strawberry daiquiris! She loved to swim, and family and friends were over often to swim in their pool.

Maryanna is survived by her four children: Diane Becker, Ron (Debi) Hart, Jeff (Shelli) Hart, and Barbara (Jeff) Key; her grandchildren: Shelli (Tim) Krings, Julie (Mike) Prangley, Rob (Molly) Becker, Kevin (Stephanie), Kelly, Josh, Noah, and Aaron (Holly) Hart, Aili (Alex) Welsh, Matt, Brian, and Emma Key; great-grandchildren: Megan, Abbey, and Lauren Prangley; Anthony, Isabella, and Carson Becker; Andrew, Woodson, Ethen, and Hana Hart; Madeline and Emmett Welsh; sisters-in-law, Betty Guis and Pat Semrow; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Maryanna was preceded in death by siblings: Eva Stier, Robert Stier, Marjorie Kramer, Katherine Stier, and Betty Magnusson; and her son-in-law, Bob Becker.
