Maxine Caldwell Londowski

Maxine C. Londowski, 89, of Oshkosh, died May 12, 2016, at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She was born on September 23, 1926 the daughter of Murrel and Edith Caldwell in Quincy, Illinois. Maxine married Paul Londowski on June 2, 1945 in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1989.After attending Quincy High School Maxine went to work as a telephone operator. She first worked during WWII at Camp Ellis, a German POW camp, near Macomb, Illinois and then in Quincy, Illinois at the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. In 1954 Maxine moved to Winneconne, Wisconsin and while living there worked as a linotype operator for The Winneconne News newspaper. In 1964 she moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin.Maxine was a member of T.O.P.S. and Friends of the Library. She enjoyed volunteering at the Oshkosh Senior Center where she also chaired the Widows group for several years which included monthly meetings, outings, and newsletter. She was an avid reader, loved playing cards, travel and had many collections throughout her lifetime. Her collections included depression glass, roosters, and miniature shoes. The highlight of one of her trips was a visit to the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. where she enjoyed a personal tour with Senator John Glenn.Maxine also enjoyed her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with placing their many photos and handmade art throughout her home. Maxine is survived by her son, Carl (Lisa) Londowski; daughters, Paula (James) Vaughan and Diane (Jeff) Groff; Sherri Wichman (Mother of Amy, Jennifer, and Erin); grandchildren, Amy (Marty) Hamm, Jennifer (Jim) McAloon, Erin (Greg) Riesenweber, Tammy Vaughan and Matthew (Angela) Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Preston Vaughan, Addison Vaughan, Ava McAloon, Oliver McAloon, Henry McAloon, Courtney Riesenweber and Caycee Riesenweber.Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; brother, Wayne Caldwell; sister, Wanda Upschulte.Funeral services for Maxine will be at 12:00 pm on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside, with Rev. John Worzala Dumke officiating. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will be in the Winneconne Cemetery.A memorial has been established.The family would like to thank ALL of the wonderful staff members at Park View Health Center and Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice. This thank you extends not only to the many wonderful nurses and CNAs, but also to the PT, OT, dietician, social worker, administrative staff, physicians, and all other staff members who assisted Maxine and her family during this time. We cannot thank you enough for your care and warm kindness.
