Milton Clarence Schumacher

Milton Clarence Schumacher, 91, of Oshkosh died peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Bethel Home. He was born in Oshkosh on June 21, 1917 the son of William and Erma Freimuth Schumacher. Milton married Esther M. Zuehlke on August 18, 1939 in Oshkosh. Esther preceded him in death on October 5, 2003.Milton was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and had attended Oshkosh Business Collage, he had been a member of the Oshkosh High School Band. He began working at Dahl Ford in 1936. In 1958 he set up the Badger Oldsmobile office and was the business manager and worked there until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and held many offices at the church. He was a member of Noon Optimist Club, and was on many boards at Bethel Home, and the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Trinity Sociables, a Docent at the E.A.A., and was on the Committee on Aging. Milton received the Flame of Friendship Award from the Fireside Theatre in Ft. Atkinson. Milt and Esther founded the Trinity Senior Tours over 25 years ago, providing the opportunity for many to visit the Fireside Dinner Theatre and many other locations in the country.Survivors include one son, Roland (Nancy) Schumacher of Fond du Lac; one daughter, Janet (Tom) Dunham of Oshkosh, six grandchildren, Renee (Bryan) Gajewski of Schofield, Annette (Cory) Clark of Rosendale, Jean (Todd) Polk of Reedsburg, Susan Reische of Minneapolis, Jennifer Dunham of Oshkosh, Jeffrey Dunham of Oshkosh; six great grandchildren Alyssa, Travis and Lucas Gajewski, Donica and Kaylie Polk and Maddison Dunham; one sister-in-law, Elaine Schumacher of Appleton and many other relatives and friends.Milt was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Schumacher; one sister, Margaret Phelps; one brother-in-law, Earl Zuelke, and three grandchildren. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Noon at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (370 Bowen St) with the Rev. Martin Ahlborn officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to Noon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.In lieu of flowers contributions to a memorial that will be established would be appreciated.A special thank you to Pat Affinity Hospice Nurse for her special loving care on dads last day of his life.
