Myrtle Thea Macdonald

Myrtle T. Macdonald, 88, of Oshkosh, formerly of Madison died Monday August 7, 2006, at Bethel Home. Myrtle was born January 15, 1918 in Mineral Point, WI, a daughter of Curtis and Thea (Nygaard) Foster. She married John Macdonald in 1936 in Evanston, IL. He preceded her in death in 1968.She attended Madison Central High School and graduated in 1935. She sang in the choir, girls triple trio, and played the clarinet. She was an avid bowler for many years in Madison and served as secretary for the leagues. She won the Dane County March of Dimes Tournament and beat all men and women. Myrtle worked for an insurance company and General Telephone Co. (now Verizon) for 25 years, she retired in 1983, and spent her time with her loving dogs. She lived in Madison until three years ago, having moved to Oshkosh to be closer to her family.Myrtle is survived by her son, Wayne (Marcia) Macdonald of Oshkosh; three grand daughters, Wendy (Kurt) Hielsberg, Sherry Smestad, and Jody (Michael) Schroeder, and six great-grand children, Brent, Carson Hielsberg, Toni, Taylor Smestad, and Connor, Courtney Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, and brother, Walter Foster.A private service for Myrtle will be held. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison. Myrtles family would like to thank all the staff at Bethel Home for their loving care and patience.
