Nancy Kay Piencikowski

March 14, 1948 — April 15, 2009

Nancy K. Piencikowski, age 61 of Oshkosh passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her loving family Wed April 15, 2009 at St Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was bom March 14, 1948 the daughter of Gordon and Ruby (Polzin) Schneider.Nancy graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1966. She graduated and worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years then received her registered nurse degree from Mercy School of Nursing. She continued her career by earning a certification from M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston TX as an Enterostomal Therapist.Nancy was employed by Mercy Medical Center for 46 years. She began her career at age 15 as a Candy Striper, then an LPN, an RN and completed her career at Mercy Medical Center as an Enterostomal Therapist and expert in wound care, heading the wound care clinic. Nancy loved her job and helping people.She was an active member of the Mercy School of Nursing Alumni and was on the State Board for the American Cancer Society. Locally she organized a team for Relay for Life known as Nancys Survivors, and she sold daffodils annually for the Cancer Society.She facilitated an Ostomy Support Group in the Oshkosh area and was a member of WOCN (Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Society), which allowed her to speak internationally as an expert on wound care.Nancy was a devote catholic at St Raphaels Parish where she was an active member of the RCIA Team. Her caring personality permeated everything and everyone she touched.She enjoyed traveling that included international destinations. Her interests included deer hunting, writing poetry, and meeting the girls for dinner. She was a loving wife and best friend to her husband John.Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 37 years John, two nieces, Laurie (Gregory) Dietzen, and Leah Snell (Scott Geerts), three great nieces, Kyra, Avery, and Bailey Deitzein, and two great nephews. Carver and Brendan Snell. She is further survived by Johns brothers, sisters, and their families along with many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother David Schneider.A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11AM Tuesday April 21st at St Raphaels Parish with Father Doug LaCaptain officiating. Friends and family may call at Konrad Behlman Funeral Home 100 Lake Point Drive on Monday April 20th from 3-7 and again at St Raphaels Parish from 10-11 on Tuesday April 21st.Interment will be at St Leo Cemetery in Pound, WI at 3:30 Tuesday April 21st.In lieu of flowers two memorials have been established. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life and Mercy Health Foundation: Nancy Piencikowski Endowment for Enterostomal Therapy Excellence.
