Nancy Lloyd

Nancy M. Lloyd, age 68 of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at Century Oaks on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Nancy was born on May 3, 1945 in Muncie, IN to Philip Graves and Crystal (Coyle). She graduated from Mississinewa High School in Gas City, IN and went on to receive her bachelors and masters degree in music education from the venerable Indiana University School of Music (now Jacobs School of Music). On April 14, 1979, she married her best friend Tom Lloyd at First Congregational Church in Oshkosh.Nancy was a professor of music and the director of the highly respected music therapy program at UW-Oshkosh for 26 years, after which she held the title of professor emeritus. She was a long-time registered Wisconsin music therapist; member of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and its Great Lakes Region; the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Association Chapter Network; and served on the Wisconsin Chapter for Music Therapy Executive Board. She was a frequent presenter (juried) for music therapy/allied health conferences; appointed to AMTA's National Speaker's Bureau; a Very Special Arts clinician/music coordinator; and music ministry volunteer. She was a gifted musician, pianist, and vocalist, lending her beautiful voice to the First Congregational Church Chancel Choir, Oshkosh Chamber Singers, and the annual Oshkosh Recreation Department-sponsored performance of Handel's Oratorio Messiah, where she was featured as a soloist. She was a faithful member of First Congregational Church of Oshkosh and their Women's Fellowship, and a dedicated volunteer for many of its church functions. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, where she held life-long friendships and fulfilled her passion for philanthropy. Nancy is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Allison (Andy) Oswald of Monterey, CA; sisters, Pam Graves of Connersville, IN; Lois (Dave) Drollinger of Kearney, MO; Stephanie Voglund of Peoria, AZ; mother-in-law, Mildred Lloyd of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law, David Lloyd of Atlanta, GA; Douglas Lloyd of Cypress, TX; and Gary Lloyd of Oshkosh. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Dorothy (Shugart) Day, and brother, Danny Graves. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Century Oaks and Heartland Hospice for their dedicated service, care, and unwavering support extended on this journey. Nancys memorial celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, with Carol and Ralph DiBiasio-Snyder officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends preceding the service at 1:00 p.m. on October 26, 2013.
