Nancy M. Schettl

May 19, 1944 — November 12, 2021

Nancy May Schettl, age 77 of Oshkosh, was greeted by the Lord on Friday, November 12, 2021. She was born on May 19, 1944 to Harold and Elsie (Mueller) Niebauer in Oshkosh. Loving wife of the late Gerald Charles Henry Schettl. They were married on January 25, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and blessed with two daughters.

Nancy worked at a job she adored as a daycare teacher for 29 years at TLC Daycare Center, and then for 5 years at Chiemsee Castle Day Care until retiring in March 2020.

Nancy was a devout Christian who loved to read her bible on daily basis. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and volunteered whenever she was able. Alter guild was her favorite volunteer activity. Years prior, she was a member at Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in bible study missions and served on the Women of Zion group. Nancy loved her family more than anything else in the world. There was nothing more important to her. She was a mama bear if you messed with her family. Some of Nancy’s favorite pass times were cooking, watching movies and playing card games with her family. She was a spunky, loving and very loveable person who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters: Dianne Schettl and Amy (Schettl) Lee; grandchildren Amber (Benjamin) Krumenauer, and Brian Andrew (fiancé Patrick Riley) Schettl; sister Luella Owen; brother: Harold (LaDean) Niebauer Jr.; great grandchildren: Cayden Krumenauer, Gage Krumenauer and Niles Krumenauer. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister: Bernetta (James) Calkins; brother-in-law: Austin Owen; nephew: Robert Niebauer; niece: Karen Niebauer.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on December 4, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W 9th Ave. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
