Noel J Rasmussen

Noel John Rasmussen, age 82, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born to the late Kenneth and Eleanor (Lux) Rasmussen on May 6, 1937 in Oshkosh. Upon marrying his high school sweetheart, Jean Weitz on February 12, 1955, he worked at Leach Co. and Specialty Machine. Noel had also played the accordion in the Del Ernst Band alongside his best friend, Harold Niebauer. He enjoyed any moment with his wife or family, or spending time away from Oshkosh at the Little Silver Lake Resort in Wild Rose, Wisconsin.

Together, Noel and Jean raised four sons: Larry Rasmussen of Winneconne, Randy (Debbie) Rasmussen of Oshkosh, Vincent (Lynne) Rasmussen of Oshkosh, and Alex (Michele) of Florence, South Carolina.

In addition, Noel is survived by 9 Grandchildren: Christie (Ed) Bongel of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Vincent (Amanda) Rasmussen of Oshkosh, Aubrey (Justin) Possavino of Florence, South Carolina, Sean Rasmussen of Oshkosh, Jon (Erica) Rasmussen of Appleton, Anthony Rasmussen of Seattle, Washington, Haley (Jake) Leiser of Menasha, Noelle Rasmussen of Missoula, Montana, and Faith Rasmussen of Florence, South Carolina. Noel is also survived by 8 Great Grandchildren: Devon Rasmussen, Arthur and Owen Rasmussen, Margot and William Bongel, and Arjeo, Olivia and Aria Possavino.

Noel had left behind a sister, Chris (John) Nolte of Oshkosh, a brother James (Linda) Rasmussen of Oshkosh, sister-in-law Barbara Rasmussen of Oshkosh, and sister-in-law Sally (Jerry) Grall of Appleton. Noel also left behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Noel was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Ronald and David.

Noel’s family would like to thank his doctors and nurses, as well as the Hospice care from Ascension--they truly made his last days here at home more comfortable. Moreover, Noel’s family are especially appreciative of the ongoing love and support of Tommy and Lusine Weitz. Noel was and forever will be loved by many. His light will continue to shine through his family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Lake View Chapel of Oshkosh.
