Ray Whitney Connick

Ray W. Connick, 92, of Oshkosh died Thursday January 27, 2011 in Bethel Home. He was born Sept. 17, 1918 in Oshkosh a son of the late James and Laura Middlecamp Connick. Ray married Audrey Fischer on Sept. 7, 1940 in Oshkosh. Ray was a member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church and their Grace Forever Young Club. He was baptized at an older age on Feb. 28, 1937 and always remembered the glorious event. He was a WWII Army veteran of the 42nd Rainbow Division. Ray had worked for the Oshkosh Postal Service retiring in 1973. He enjoyed gardening and wood carving, cutting most of his own wood for the carvings. He is survived by his wife Audrey of Oshkosh, two daughters Judith Connick of Baraboo and Lois (Karl) Hovde of Milwaukee, a sister Naomi Lueck of Oshkosh, a brother Lloyd Connick of Lake Jackson, TX, six grandchildren Elizabeth (Chuck) Petrie, Roger (Carrie) Clark, Renee Beese, Matthew Clark, Samantha Clark, and Lorraine (John ) Zamzow, seven great-grandchildren Zandra, Justin, Tiffany, Nicole, Phillip, Ava, and Christopher, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Durwood. A funeral service for Ray will be held Monday January 31, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Rev. Chadwick Graham officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 11 a.m. until the service. Military services will follow. Burial will be in Ellenwood Cemetery.A memorial is being established for Grace Ev. Lutheran Church debt retirement. Rays family would like to give thanks to the caring staff at Bethel Home.
