Raymond Simons

Ray Simons, 92, Oshkosh, died Saturday March 23, 2013 at Oakwood Manor. Ray was born on January 2, 1921 in Oshkosh , the eldest son of Claude & Gladiola Simons. On May 10, 1943 Ray married his wife of fifty years, Margaret Disch, of Oshkosh. Ray was a life-long Oshkosh resident who made his living as a carpenter and contractor following his service in the United States Army in World War II. He was an avid bowler and golfer and an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Simons, Laverne Simons, Betty Simons and by their seven children Jerry, Connie, Gary, Pattie, Kathy, Sherry, Chrissy. Further survived by sister-in-law Elaine Disch, nephew Art Wolff, nieces Carol Wolff-Reinertson and Lisa Disch, by grandnieces Christa Houle and Colleen Loper and by the four grandchildren Madalyn and Morgan Houle and Megan and Jack Loper and by his dear friend, Mary Remillard.He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret and his brothers Leland Simons, Vernon Simons and Roy Simons. Visitation for Ray will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ (145 W. 24th Ave, Oshkosh, WI) until the time of service. Memorial service will be held at 2:00P.M. with Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell officiating. Inurnment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services in Oshkosh.The family would like to thank the staff of Oakwood Manor for their compassionate care.
