Reid C. Hamlin

November 28, 1936 — September 2, 2022

Reid C. Hamlin, age 85, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, at Edenbrook of Oshkosh. He was born to the late James and Margaret (Running) Hamlin on November 28, 1936, in Merrill Wisconsin. After graduating from Merrill High School, Reid joined the United States Army where he served from June 1954 until November 1961. Reid married Lois Zoellner on April 8, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran in Merrill, WI. Reid was a manager of Northern Auto Supply and Carquest. Reid and Lois are members at Faith Lutheran Church here in Oshkosh. Reid was very active in his church life, serving as an usher, a singer in the choir, as well as being a member of the church council.


Reid enjoyed being outdoors, deer hunting, camping and teaching his grandchildren how to fish. Reid enjoyed bowling and socializing with friends. He was an avid fan of Wisconsin sports and enjoyed watching the Brewers, the Bucks, the Packers, and the Badgers. Reid loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Reid enjoyed his time as a “snowbird” with Lois, escaping the winter months in Wisconsin.


Reid is survived by his loving wife, Lois; daughters, Heidi (Steven) Schneiter and Stefanie (Andrew) Rebholz; grandchildren, Mali (Emad) Elsamadicy, Morgann Schneiter, Hunter Schneiter, Matthew Rebholz, Joseph Rebholz, Zachary Rebholz; great-grandchildren Nora and Zayn; brothers, William (Mary Lou), Donald (Elizabeth), and Wayne Hamlin; sisters, Eunice Langlois, Elaine Schultz and Claudia (James) Roberts.


In addition to his parents, Reid was preceeded in death by his half-brother Edmond (Beatrice) Hamlin, Brothers, James Hamlin, Joseph (Lucille) Hamlin; sisters Alice Jane (James) O’Day, Esther (Vernon) Wittkop, Margaret (Tony) Robl; half-sister, Lorraine Liberty, and brothers-in-law Jack Langlois, Tom Schultz.


A funeral service for Reid will be held at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at noon. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service, at the church. A burial will follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.


The family would like to thank the staff at Edenbrook of Oshkosh and Aurora Hospice for their compassionate care of Reid.
